Mediation

Mediation is a very popular form of alternative dispute resolution that uses a neutral third party to facilitate a compromise between the parties. It is voluntary (the parties choose to mediate), completely confidential and without prejudice to any court proceedings. The mediator does not make a decision on the dispute but rather assists the parties to find alternative solutions, in effect serving as a catalyst. Mediation can be as simple or as complex as the parties wish and the parties do not need to be legally represented if they choose not to be.

The vast majority of cases settle following a mediation - those that do not settle on the day will often settle at a later date asa direct result of lines of communication opened at the mediation.

Mediation is often a cost effective method of dispute resolution - while there are costs associated with the provision of the service these are much lowe than the costs of taking a dispute to court.

Hoptoad Mediation Packages

Basic Package (2 hrs prep + 3 hr mediation)                                                        £    350

Hourly Rate (inclusive of e-mail, mail and UK based telephone charges)        £       75

Hoptoad can tailor make a package to your specifications, ie if you feel your dispute may require more or less preparation time than provided in the package.

Packages and the hourly rate are inclusive of e-mail, mail and UK telephone calls.  International telephone calls are charged at cost.  Accommodation and 2nd class/economy travel are also charged where appropriate.  Should you require, Hoptoad can arrange a venue for the mediation.  Costs will be apportioned between the parties.

Costs are shared between the parties with 50% payable the day before the mediation and the balance within 14 days.

Hoptoad is not registered for VAT.

How to Book

Hoptoad can be approached by any of the parties to a dispute but will require that, prior to appointment, both parties sign the Hoptoad Mediation Agreement.
